LOS ANGELES, July 27 — A new kids’ content company, A Squared Entertainment, has teamed with AOL on a slate of entertainment brands for children.

The shows will feature personalities like businessman Warren Buffett, model Gisele Bundchen and television personality Martha Stewart and will teach kids about finance, the environment, creativity and science.

Working in collaboration with AOL, the company will produce a season’s worth of three to five minute webisodes that will premiere on AOL.

“Secret Millionaire’s Club”, featuring Buffett, and “GiGi & the Green Team”, featuring Bundchen, are scheduled to debut on AOL this fall. “Little Martha”, featuring Stewart, will launch in spring 2010.

AOL also will work with A Squared to distribute the webisodes more broadly on the Web, leveraging the power of social networking.

In addition, AOL is working with branding agency MGX Labs to create an interactive world for each property, with games and activities to extend the webisode content.

A Squared was formed by industry and marketing vets Andy Heyward and Amy Moynihan. With 30 years of experience in children’s programming as the head of DIC Entertainment, Heyward developed and oversaw properties like “Strawberry Shortcake”, “Inspector Gadget” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks”.;

He also collaborated worldwide with advertisers, licensors and promotional partners, including Hasbro, McDonald’s and Wal-Mart. Moynihan is a 20-year brand marketing veteran responsible for launching products for brands like McDonald’s and Disney Cruise Line. – Reuters
